Online Armor - Block Dangerous Websites

How to block or control dangerous websites

One of the ways that Online Armor protects you is filtering the content of websites that you visit. This facility alone can stop potentially unwanted programs from downloading to your computer - which they must do if they want to run.

How much you trust the website (ranging from "Blocked" to "Trusted") controls what Online Armor will do.

With My Websites, you can set the trust level of any site;

  • Protected - banking or financial site
  • Trusted - any content is allowed to load
  • Not Trusted - potentially dangerous content will be blocked without warning
  • Blocked - NO content will be loaded
  • Unknown - You have not decided yet

To make things easier, Tall Emu maintains a list of dangerous websites inside Online Armor for you - and in some cases, sites that we know are safe. This is to reduce the amount of popups that you recieve. It is also possible to run in a "popupless" mode which treats unknown websites the same as untrusted ones - silently blocking potentially dangerous content.

Managing Websites

Online Armor controls which websites are trusted - or not - through the "My Websites" page.

Web Filtering in practice

Results will vary depending on what type of site you commonly visit. In our testing, most of the things blocked by Online Armor's web sheild are things such as tracking, advertising or malicious programs. In some cases, legitimate content is also blocked (for example, media players). In order to unblock, simply mark those sites as "Trusted" in the My Websites page - or, "Allow" when prompted.
